WAMMIE NOMINATION FOR WHO'S FOOLIN WHO

Had a fantastic musical week that had me doing my first ever Feature Artist performance at the SAW Singer Songwriters Showcase at Brewer's Alley. A special treat among many that evening was having Bob Berberich of Grin and Hangmen fame sit in on I Found Love, The song from Sin City "tringle" that he played on.  Below is a rare performance of Come Back Kate

We had a great Alternative Lover's Ball on Valentines night in spite of this cruel Alberta clipper that has chilled our bones.  Wilcom's Inn is a dying breed of Cheers-like honky-tonks that I always have a great great time playing.

AND the ballots are out and Who's Foolin Who has been nominated for Best Roots Rock Recording!!! I couldn't be more thrilled. To venture down this road in the setting sun of my days is amazing enough. To be recognized along some some of the DC area's great talents is both honoring and humbling. The Washington Area Music Awards takes place on March 15th at the State Theater in Virginia.

and lastly I am gonna ease back finish some projects and  head back into the studio to work on some new material...stay warm...

New Video Out!

Well, I guess it was inevitable, my first official video! Shot on location, by a world unknown director,  produced by a producer who shall remain nameless, on a budget of less than you spent this morning at McDonalds, featuring a cast of one (sorry Sadie your cameo doesn't qualify you for union billing)... Excited to get some use out of my morning suit...

Can you say BRRRRRRR

Yep deep in the throes of winter and well, whatcha gonna do... every year I groan and moan but then spring comes. I am patiently waiting. . In the meantime. I am about to embark on another first. I will as of Jan 21 be hosting a weekly musical gathering.  A hybrid open mic/showcase.  Here's the lowdown... Wednesday nights from 8-11. Two showcase slots will be offered prior to the night and rest will be three song/15 min slots...Showcase will be placed randomly in the evening.  I am leaning acoustic, which means no full drum kits but that may change too...Look forward to seeing some of you there...

I have been playing a good many solo shows in preparation for some out of town solo events this coming year. Check the calendar for which show is which coming up next will be the full band back at The Music Cafe on Jan31st with our special guest Claudinna and Bobby.

Watch for when the DVD comes out or the show airs of the Emmylou Harris tribute that was held last weekend here in DC.  Amazing lineup and Alison Krauss laid everyone out with here rendition of  Til I Gain Control Again

SIN IS IN!!!

The morning after a big show is always ...weird.  I received a wonderful promising email the day before. One of those that keeps you happily restless all night.  First thing this morning I got another email offering me a slot at Roots on the River Festival in Vermont this coming June... I continue to be inspired by the guys I play with and all the music community along the way.  Looking forward to closing out this year and having a tremendous 2015!

ALSO ...

<SEG>

Yes, you might recognize that as a symbol for shiteatinggrin...that's what I am wearing this morning as I listen to the almost final mix of a special song.  If all goes well (and so far lookin' good) this will be a limited edition "single" that will be given out at the Music Cafe show on November 22nd. This is my first ever cover tune and the first with the actual members of Domenic Cicala & Thensome.  It features Jeff Carmella on lead guitar, Steve Kochersperger on bass and mandolin and Joel app on drums....I may have come late to the party but I am trying to catch up!  See you on the 22nd...

I came across a wonderful 1980 Gibson J-55 which I hope to have setup by the Music Cafe show.  It was used on recording the single, has a great bright tone with lots of resonance...and my first blonde ever...

Check the show page for some new live vids and upcoming show info
